Water Softener
Re: Water Softener
Exactly Corey. Get a copper pipe cutter (it spins around) and you put 2 elbows on there.
Want to add it where the outdoor faucets don't get the new soft water, and it goes to the hot water and the cold water of the house.

That sounds easy enough. This is on my to-do list at some point. I can't 100% identify that our backyard faucet isn't downstream from where I'd need to put the water softener because everything is dry walled past the utility closet.
Re: Water Softener
Not a huge deal if it's not, just know you're wasting a little if you water on that one.
Re: Water Softener
I bought one... Hard to tell in the pic but it was closest to the 15/250. Softener sale ends today so I picked one up since I'd have done it at some point soonish anyways.

Wow, taking a shower at your place must feel like getting hit with bricks, that is so hard.
After looking at mine again I was probably between 7 - 11. I haven't ran it again since installing.
Did you go to Home Depot, then McNards, then home, and back to McNards today?
Re: Water Softener
Damn right I did. I wish I grabbed a couple more tests while I was there for afterwards.

There is another test included in the paperwork with the water softener

Good work Corey! I would say your last test is a solid 0. How silky do your showers feel?
Did it take you longer than the 20 minutes it took for Tylersucks to do mine? Run into any hurdles?

Remember, there is a bypass on the back you can use if your outside bibs are downstream from the softner. Good job Corey on your fight against hard water! Was it a huge difference? How about the tap taste?

It took me a couple hours because I had to do a 25 foot run through the ceiling for the discharge line. I also basically installed mine twice because I didn't like how I did it the first time.
First attempt scrapped because I didn't like the pressure it was putting on the pipes:

Re: Water Softener
Wow, way cleaner than mine. I should have hired you instead of Tylersucks.
Re: Water Softener
Blind taste test of soft water vs filtered fridge and Jocelyn got it wrong. I swear I can tell a difference though and prefer the filtered now.

great job Potty! yep smart choice with doing another attempt
Re: Water Softener
Corey, how many bags have you added since install? I never think to check mine since it's behind a door blocked by toys. I've added a few bags and need to check this week.
Have you figured out a way to monitor it with smart things?

I added three bags initially and its still half full so none? I am shocked at how little salt I need for this thing. My parents must have had a really inefficient one because I feel like they added 3 bags every other month at least.
Re: Water Softener
Wow. Your water was way worse than mine too!
Maybe you just take fast showers? Your parents also had 4+ people using showers/laundry, etc. You have 2.
