Tyler's Car Quest

I think I'm in the market. I would like to get a new used car early 2018. My car needs new tires, but I should just get a new one since it has 260k miles and leaks oil.

I would like a 2014+ car for around 9-10k. That will keep payments under $200 a month and get me the best loan rate. No idea if my car is worth anything for trade in.

It's going to be worth something regardless. My old 96 Buick with bad brakes and hail damage was given a $750 trade in

If you don't mind a payment, you could lease. You definitely can find great deals on brand new cars. You'd have to watch the mile you put on it. but there are definitely some very low lease deals right now.

Are you dead set on getting a compact? Even a mid-sized sedan is too big?

Jettas are very nice, I love mine. Just need a SUV or truck otherwise I would just buy mine.

I commute too much for a lease.

Wags, I'm not firm on the size, but I really only have a car seat in the back, so I wouldn't mind something smaller. I would also like to finally park a 2nd car in the garage so something smaller would help with that.

I enjoy my Kia Sorento. I'm on my second and have never had any issues with them

Biggest life changing features.
- Bluetooth for podcasts and the console letting me read what I'm playing and skip forward.
-seat warmers. I didn't think I would ever use them, but they sure are nice when it's cold and I can't start my car from inside anymore.

I owned the car for 33 days before a deer ran into me

judging by the impact that had to be horrifying! sound in car must have been super loud too.. just you on way home from work? Hope Evie wasnt in car.. would be traumatic for a tot. Assuming since you're posting you're okay!

I'm fine and it really couldn't have gone any better (other than missing it entirely). It was just Evie and me at about 7:30. By the time I saw the deer it was too late to avoid it, I swerved as much as the small shoulder allowed and it hit my door. It wasn't more than a "thud" and moved the car a little. I slowly pulled over to check everything out. Evie barely even looked up, she didn't care at all or notice anything.

Someone behind me stopped a minute afterwards while I was still pulled over checking things over. He said he didn't see the deer. It's entirely possible the deer was able to run off since it was him hitting me, not the 60mph car hitting him.

Maybe it helped i had a podcast playing loudly

Going to get an estimate Tuesday. Will get it fixed and pay the $500 deductible. Any estimates on the estimate? $4k+?
