Lasik Vision Correction
Lasik Vision Correction
I'm told a few members here have gotten Lasik vision correction. I've been interested in it for a while, but lately my eyes have been a lot more irritated by my contacts and wearing glasses is annoying so I've been considering it more seriously than I have before. Was just curious on people's thoughts on it. What was the process like? Are you glad you did it? Was the cost reasonable? Etc.

I hearon the radio all the time $250 per eye, that has to be a rare though.

Best money I have spent, hands down. It was about 3400 for me. The really cheap places I would be wary about. The gal that did mine had a TON of surgeries under her belt, so I was pretty confident that I wasn't going to be blind for life.
At the beginning of the process you just go in and see if you are a candidate. There are a few follow up checkins. You have to go like a week without wearing contacts or something like that so they can check again. On the actual day you go in, they check you again, numb you, cut your eyes open, burn your flesh, close you up.
the days following are A LOT of eye drops and no contact with eyes. I had it about 4 years ago or so and my eyes are great. For a year or so after I had pretty bad dry eyes, but that has mostly gone away for me. I can't be outside during the sun without sunglasses though. Night vision wasn't really impacted for me either.

I've heard that too. I'm curious what parameters cause the price to be different since it says "starting" at $250. What makes the price go up?
There is a place up here that I hear ads for ON THE RADIO that says they have a "lowest price" guarantee. They're also supposedly the #1 lasik provider in the country. https://whitingclinic.com/

I actually got mine done at lasikplus. the 250 sounds like a scam to just get you in the door. Depending on the quality of your eyes the cost fluctuates, i think? I don't really understand why it makes any difference.

I don't wear contacts or glasses, but I don't have perfect vision. I think if I went to the eye doctor they would tell me I should start, but it's not bad enough where I couldn't drive without the aid. If my eyesight got bad enough that I needed to wear something I said I would just do lasik since I've gone 30 years without glasses/contacts, I don't want to start now. Jocelyn thought that was kind of dramatic of me to say. I have HSA money, so yolo

Best money I ever spent too. Mine cost 3k, and the 250 per eye depends on how bad your eyes are. The worse they are, the cheaper it is.

By that logic, they would pay Jocelyn to do hers.

Its $250 to do the eye, but they charge you all the other fees associated with the procedure. You get like nothing off really.

Interesting. I have pretty terrible vision. I don't know what the number is (20/20 vs 20/xx) but my contact prescription is -5.25 in one eye and -4.5 in the other.

Pft. Jocelyn's claim to fame are her numbers. -8.50
We once had Ben switch spots with me in bed and she didn't notice.

Lol, that's pretty bad. I know one of my sisters has worse vision than me, but I don't think it's as bad as Jocelyn's.

It's totally something worth bragging about on my wife's behalf.

Is that because she couldn't see you, or she never turns towards you in bed?

I'm almost so blind they don't make my prescription in the brand of contacts I wear. It's pretty neat.
I am incredibly scared of Lasik. Like, I know I should do it. But it freaks me out.

It's super easy. Painless. Just dry eyes. That's the worst part. You don't see anything happening, they just put a thing over your eye and you look at a light. You really should do it.
