Seems cool. I mean, why should we be expected to leave the house, and NOT have a fully functional Wii-U to take with us. I like to think that at :56 it is Tim and Kathryn.

We knew Nintendo was doing some kind of tablet/console hybrid, but this is better than anything I was picturing. I am worried about performance though. Nintendo is always in last place as far as graphics go, but will this set them back even further? There is no way you can do beefy video processing in such a small form factor. Does the dock process it at higher quality, and give that up when you want portability?

It looks like they were playing Skyrim on it. Maybe Skyrim on low. Only 5 years late to the game. I am fine with just playing 1st party games on Nintendo. Zelda and Metriod is enough for me!. Tyler, I'll need your WiiU for zelda.

No problem. Wilkins isn't using it, have him bring it to lunch next week.

That's because that's not Nintendo's console design philosophy. They've always been a company that utilizes matured technologies and uses it in an innovative way, not about being the first guy to the block with the latest an greatest hardware. Nintendo doesn't have a dog in that fight -- look at who they're up against: The PC market, which will always have the best and bleeding edge technology; Microsoft, who has the most money to do anything; and Sony, arguably the king of all entertainment with movies, music, mobile, and home electronics. Looking at that competition, Nintendo should have been phased out years ago.

I anticipate for the Switch, we're going to see a lot of familiar technologies: a tablet, docking station, possibly external and more powerful GPU in the docking station, wireless technologies (namely wifi, bluetooth), probably only up to 1080p resolution on both tablet and external screen, li-ion batteries, etc. Honestly, it's nothing new, but it's being used in a pretty cool way. I don't even think we'll see something pretty common like wireless charging, or even Micro USB/USB Type-C charging.

Here's my guess for the future: As beefier graphical power becomes cheaper, and VR matures, it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo's next console (after Switch) is based around VR, but with a new spin.

Nicely put Salvo. Yes, Nintendo focuses on entertainment over performance. I was making an observation that each Nintendo console does have improved visuals over the previous, but I would expect this to be more in line with the Wii U, especially in mobile mode. I think we are probably both right when it comes to the dock offering more than just output connections.

Safe bet, but possibly too late. Nintendo is often first to market with new gaming technologies (motion tracking. 2nd screen experience. now mobile/console hybrid), it isn't a good sign for them if they are playing catch up on VR

I've used it a few times, but you're right, I haven't been.

Curious to see reviews on this. I won't get one but I'd like to know battery life, and processing power.

Looks pretty sweet, but I agree with Brad, too many unknowns at this point.

That seems like a very reasonable price for launching a brand new console. Someone here has to buy it.

Lol, I just saw this and yes while I was at work today I preordered it from target. Used the wife's red card to save 5%. Looks fun not sure what games I will get yet tho. Really haven't watched or heard much about the system yet.
