This effect is silly. I think it can make sense for some games - L4D uses it because it's like you're playing through an old zombie movie, but other games have no reason for it. I disabled it on Rise of the Tomb Raider last night and liked the results. I will be turning it off on all games that offer the option

This looks like a brightness difference? Am i missing something? The picture looks nearly identical in each of these.

That's kinda what I thought too. I don't really see it as grainy.

I bet it does! I have noticed games that look grainier than others so that is what i am assuming this is.
