Sprint Vector - VR

Postby Tyler » Wed Feb 07, 2018 7:51 am

This game is going to be the new hotness. Tested talked about it last week and my VR podcast has been discussing the beta for a few weeks. It's some kind of running race game but on floating skates? Same company that makes Raw Data.

Full game comes out tomorrow. No word on price. I may have to pick it up if it's under $25.

I hadn't actually looked at the trailer until now. Looks like it could be fun. Do you swing your arms to go faster or why are your arms so tired?

Yes, you are moving your arms the whole time. I'm a n00b so I thought faster swinging meant faster movement, but I think timing is more important.

Tip: do all of the tutorials before even trying a race. You learn a lot of those.

Now that I understand more of the mechanics it is a lot more fun.

I can consistently not get last now that I am using drifting for all turns. I just ordered a new face cover for my Rift to help with sweat and so I can wash it easily

I did my nightly 4 races. I'm either getting much better or new players are joining. I got 2nd and first tonight!

I wore a bandanna tonight to try and help with the moisture, it helped but also made it worse. I was going all out though because I got first 3 matches in a row! Fell down to 2nd and 3rd for the next races because I was too tired. I can't wait to play with Wags and start seeing friends on the leaderboards.

My lower back is sore today, I either slept bad last night or 40 minutes of intense SV did it.

Thanks for playing tonight wags. I got 2 and 3rd a few times, but no first place. People are back to being better than me. Watching Chris play is how I felt when I first started. Aka a whole hour of gameplay ago. Once you figure out the controls it's a lot easier obviously.

Chris's mom was going through his webcam. Someday we will all play VR and not have any technical problems.

I assume this is supposed to say "Chris's voice" rather than mom. Otherwise, weird.

And yeah, I need to redo the tutorials. I completely forgot how to do most things. Drifting will be the most useful since I kept dying by falling off edges around corners.

Lol. Mom.

Drifting and physically turning is the best way to handle turns. It depends on the curve and my current speed for which method I use.

I'll probably play my usually 30 mins tonight when Jocelyn works out. I've been doing some of the challenge maps. I need to remember to keep my elbows straight and see if that helps with speed.

Getting up to speed is easy though, it's maintaining it while turning and flying.

Took about a month off from this game due to getting Brass Tactics and feeling under the weather (this is not a game you can play if you aren't feeling 100%). After losing Brass Tactics I fired this up and played 4 multiplayer games. First game was rough, but once I got back into the groove of things I was playing 2nd and 3rd, never did get first though. Every time I got second was because the person in first was way better at setting traps, I almost never fire my gun or do traps.

Jocelyn wanted to play a "workout game in VR" last night. I had her run through the tutorial on this. She finished basic tutorial and did a race but quit because she wasn't good (and because I quick ran to the store and it freaked her out being in VR while home alone). I think after you get a few races under your belt and understand drifting then the game becomes pretty simple to play.
