Brass Tactics - Oculus VR

Real time strategy game out this month, but a free version comes out tomorrow. Might be something Wags likes because of his Civ obsession

I feel like these overhead tabletop-type games I would rather just play on the desktop rather than VR. I'd rather spend time in VR playing more VR-specific games. Plus I think I've quenched my RTS craving for another year or so.

Played the free demo and it was really cool! Comes out tomorrow and is currently at a discount price of $25. I think the full price will be $40

Does this game need to be in VR? Absolutely not. Is it one of the cooler uses of VR that I've seen? Totally. Claims 6+ hours of campaign and online options. I doubt I would play online, I have too many memories of being dominated on Red Alert online. I think I will pull the trigger on this one...

I ordered after reading this article. I think I will enjoy it, if not I can use the new-ish Oculus refund system. This will be a low energy VR game that still uses touch.

Do the demo! Only 1gb download and like 30 mins to play both levels. I think 1v1 or coop would be a lot of fun with a friend, but not a stranger.

Like I said, it's more brain power than physical so it will be a nice change of pace.

Peer pressure works. Wags bought this before even trying the demo.

I keep checking the store page for this game to see if it's out and the price. I need validation that I got a good deal!

The full game required me to play through the first 2 levels, even though I beat them in the Arena free version. Instead of doing those again (I'll make Travis play through this weekend) I did a 1v1 match. I got smoked, but the guy was really helpful and game me some good tips. It's pretty cool how you can casually talk to someone you are playing against in a RTS vs having to type chat back in the day.

Travis has been playing this all weekend. He will probably finish the campaign. He switched to a chair pretty quickly.

Playing on normal is tough. Some of these might take upwards of an hour to pass.

Wags, no update on playing? I want to talk strategy!

I didn't get a chance to try it yet. And by that I mean I chose to nap yesterday afternoon rather than play VR. Maybe I'll try it tonight.

That's disappointing to hear. I can't stop thinking about this game and hope I have time to play it tonight. I think if I only have like 20 mins free I'll play Sprint Vector, but if I have a good chunk of time I'll play this.

Easy easy I can complete levels pretty quick, but I want to play more on normal.

I beat level 4 on normal. It took 42 minutes. I can't imagine beating it on a harder difficulty.

What was your "holy shit" moment? Mine was when I first used the mortor and saw the little 3D projectiles going across the map.

Lol, I only played through the first level. It's just a really cool use of VR for an RTS game. I liked being able to queue up more units, move ahead into the action with other units, look back and be able to order the newly made units to enter the battle. I actually first tried a single player match (non-campaign) and quickly realized that I had no idea what I was doing and conceded.

I love this game, but it's so challenging!
I beat 5 on normal but 6 was extremely difficult, I had to go back to easy.

This game would be a VR system seller to people who aren't into shooters.

Daily post to this thread. I beat 7 on easy pretty easily. Might try it on normal. But normal can be so hard!

I beat the final level on normal. Might go back and try the 2 I had to so easy or just get into multiplayer / one off AI maps. I'm eager to try co-op with wags.
