Valve announces Half-Life: Alyx, its first flagship VR game

Postby Tyler » Mon Nov 18, 2019 9:51 pm

Two years and nine months after announcing it would build three (3) full-length VR games — a number that Valve Software has historically never been able to count to before, and one of the most exciting announcements in VR’s short history so far — the company has today announced Half-Life: Alyx, the first new game in the acclaimed Half-Life series in well over a decade.

March
$60. Free if you have Valve Index
Any PC VR headset can play it
As long as Half Life 2

Coolest part of the trailer was swiping away a shelf full of junk to find shotgun shells. Little things like that show off how interactive VR is

Seeing some gameplay now that the game is out. It looks amazing. The physics and world detail are so interactive. I saw someone pick up an office chair and use it to deflect a monster that jumped at him and then launch it through a glass window.

$60 is too rich for my blood though.

I have never played a Half Life game so I have no attachment to the franchise but that does look badass. Seems like it would be super intense in VR too.

Jeremy on Tested considers this a 10/10 horror game. Guess I'm not ever playing
