We have 2 episodes left. Jocelyn started making us binge watch so I couldn't do my recaps that no one asks for.

We learned where the monster comes from and how the gate got opened. I take back what I said earlier, I wish people would talk to each other. The boys, the sister, the grownups all having pieces to the puzzle and they don't know it

Why did the shady government organization let the sheriff go after he discovered the gate? That was a few episodes ago but it's still bugging me.

Finished it last night. I thought the entire thing was good, creepy at times, but not bad enough that I had to stop.

Once we got a good look at the monster I thought the show mostly stopped being scary. I imagine it is a lot like the movies Jaws. The tension and unknowns are what makes that movie scary, but once you fully see the shark a lot of the horror from the movie leaves.

We are suppose to think Eleven is alive because of the cop leaving the waffles, but why did the cop get into the car before that? I imagine he made some kind of deal where he gave up some of his own freedoms for a chance to find will/give up Eleven's location at the school.

Stolen from Reddit, but very cool way to look at the show:
I kind of love that Chief Hopper's in a conspiracy thriller, the boys are in a coming-of-age paranormal mystery, and Will's mom Joyce is in a supernatural horror story. They're all coming at the same problem from different angles and therefore each seeing a narrow vertical slice of the whole picture.

I admit I didn't notice how meta the ending was until Jocelyn pointed it out during their final DnD game

"It's over?"
"It was like ten hours!"
"That's not it is it? What about the lost knight? The proud princess? And those weird flowers in the cave?" "I don't know..."

Steve's character arc was really good. He started off as such a scum bag, but totally redeemed himself by the end. I was sad Nancy didn't end up with Will's brother, but I was okay with Steve being there, especially when it is clear he gave him the camera.

Someone made this joke when he showed up in the finale and did that badass bat wrist twirl while hitting the monster
"I'm here to kill demigorgens and save Barbaras. And I'm all out of Barbaras."

While on the topic of Steve...

They needed to roll a 14 to beat the monster in their Dnd game
Eleven + 3 boys = 14

I wonder if we get more of Hopper's back story in season 2. They said he was a city cop before, but there has to be more to it than that. He was able to disarm countless government goons and military police. He had great detective skills. Kept his wits around dead bodies. Etc.

NYCC 2016: Stranger Things Season 2 Will Deal With Barb-gate
Show co-creator Matt Duffer previously told us that Season 2 would "make sure there's some justice for Barb", and Harbour has clarified that a little at an NYCC panel about the show.

"We do deal with the loose ends in season 2," he explained (thanks Polygon), "and we do deal with some of the internet rage over Barbs' death."

"I can assure you Barb is very much dead," Harbour said. Even the Internet can't swing that one, it seems.

Stranger Things will return for its second season in 2017, with at least four new characters coming along for the Spielbergian bicycle ride.

Sean Astin and Paul Reiser join Stranger Things season 2
Stranger Things owes a lot to The Goonies and the Alien franchise. So the fact that the Duffer brothers have enlisted stars of those projects—Sean Astin and Paul Reiser, respectively—for season two is almost too perfect.

We binged the last few episodes that we had left of this today. I enjoyed it. Wish we would have gotten a bit more knowledge into what Hopper's deal was with the bad guys but I suppose that will be for next season. Only thing I didn't really like was that everyone was pretty OK with Barbara dying.
