Gotham Season 1

Postby Tyler » Mon Sep 22, 2014 8:21 am

Starts tonight. 9.5 on IMDB so far, take that with a grain of salt tho since people that see it early will rate it high.

Band practice got rescheduled due to this show premiering tonight. The singer is a big comic book fan.

They have to show the classic Wayne parents murder again? It's been done so many times and much better at that

I had a hunch they would show that this episode. Did you listen to the Fat Man on Batman where they made up a tv show around Thomas and Martha's murders? Anyways, Fox may have ripped off that idea

I did and it was epic...I loved listening to the whole premise coming together from a single idea but I knew in the back of my mind that I would never watch that show. It was a great representation of a small part of the creative thinking process (the fun part)

It was good, but not as good as I want it to be. I hate that "catwoman" witnessed the murder and that Gordon is going to be working with a young Bruce. None of that is canon and is just fabricated to make the show more accessible to people. I could have done without Bruce/the murder until the season finale. Would have loved to see more of Martha/Thomas interacting in Gotham and actually show how good of people they are since we only learn about it second hand in all of the comics.

According to IMDB Bruce will be in every episode. I do not want to see Bruce and Gordon have a strong relationship until he becomes Batman.

People are tearing the show apart on IMDB message boards. Everyone agrees that killing off the Waynes in the opening act was not a smart move

Didn't even pick up on the Riddler hint. The crime scene guy that was giving clues about the gun...or giving riddles.

And the standup comedian performing at the club.... Was he a real Joker?

They are throwing way too much at us in one episode. They won't have any characters left to introduce at this rate

Edward Nygma is the Riddler. E.Nygma... enigma or, you know, a riddle.

I always imagined Selina Kyle to be younger than Batman/Bruce Wayne or at the most the same age.

I'm turning my Batman nerd card into you. I guess I didn't realize E. Nygma was a young Riddler. I'm so stupid!

I thought this episode was a little bitter, or I at least have less to complain about. The show is starting to establish the universe and it's clear everyone in Gotham is dirty. I liked the story of the kids and the talk of the Doll Maker.

Okay...I do have some complaints. "Cat" is literally everywhere, she just happens to witness everything that happens in the city. Ugh, I still don't want to see Gordon interacting with a young Catwoman or Bruce Wayne. I think if they have this close relationship early on then it's not going to work when Bruce eventually becomes Batman.

I like this take on IMDB and agree that this is really two shows they are trying to force into one.
"The problem stems if that the creators wanted to have it both ways. They wanted a crime procedural with Jim Gordon and a coming of age story for Bruce Wayne. Either premise could work as a individual TV series but together they don't fit. "

Just started the first episode. Seems like batman and his parents shouldn't be walking down a sketchy alley at night. They should have known better.

I read the imdb post and all the comments for it and can't help but feel sad for the people that get so defensive about the show! I think they so desperately want a good show that they deny any critiques others are making. To be fair it is only week two and a lot can happen
