Re: Dog
Feed your dog a couple times a day. I'm not saying feed it double the amount, but spread the food out across the day.
Good read about preventing food/toy/treat aggression. http://dogtime.com/puppies/1210-dunbar- ... aggression

Thanks for all the tips so far, keep them coming! We pick her up in 3 weeks now. We have a meet and greet at the breeder in 2 weeks. Here is the litter we are choosing from:

We are 2nd choice of the females, I like 2nd two from the latest update, my wife likes the first one.

Crate training is fairly simple - just remember to never make it a place for punishment. That's a huge mistake most dog parents make and leads to the whining. My advice to you is to set a very strict schedule and adhere to it as much as possible. I got Ozzy when he was 4 weeks, and I made sure to let him out as soon as we woke up around 6, again right before work, I had the ability to come home for lunch so once when i got home for lunch and once before I left, and then immediately when I got home. He stays in the kennel while I'm at work or if I'm not at the house and only whines when he knows I'm home.
Constantly repeat "Outside" as you're taking the pupper out so they understand what outside means, and "Potty" of some sorts so they get that too. Call me lame, but I trained Ozz that "Go Potty" means pee and "Go Big Boy Potty" means to take a poo. Saves me easily 20 minutes in the morning as we go outside, I walk him to his spot, say the 2 phrases and we're back inside in 5 minutes.
It's all about repetition and recognition of behavior. Be strict with them when they're naughty and reward them when they do good. If you do that you'll be just fine. But be patient. Puppies have no idea what's right and wrong and they make mistakes. All the time.

Dr. Dolittle talking to animals.
Crazy you took him home at 4 weeks. That seems very early.

4 weeks does seem early. I thought they weren't even fully weaned from their mother until 6 weeks or so?
Regardless, thanks for the advice. The crate training is going pretty well. The only real issue we have right now is biting too hard.

Scream "OWW" and stop playing with the dog when it bites. That's what I read years ago because that what happens when it bites its brothers/sisters too hard. They react and leave.

It was. I had to give him milk out of a bowl/my finger for a few weeks and then soaked food. I rescued him from a real nasty place.
And yeah - the "OWW" and acting like he really hurt you works very well. I did that with Ozzy too.

Thanks! My mom actually came up with the name. Our first dog's name is Luna, so we were looking for a good boy name that starts with L.

Ha! Yeah I was okay with one dog but Lindsey really wanted to get Luna a friend to play with. Kids will be down the road a little for sure.

He's a mini aussiedoodle. Dad is mini aussie shepherd and and mom is standard poodle. He will probably grow to be between 25 and 40 pounds.

I recently acquired a poop machine of my own. I'll let you guess which one I'm talking about.

Cute family picture. Is the car seat big enough for the doggie?
