Hard to avoid this topic.

Easiest way to explain what's going on:

Everything Verizon says in this terrible video about net neutrality vs. the truth

Super annoying how these companies try to spin their stance to say they are for net neutrality. I remember working at Comcast and the management would tell us that the company's official stance was in favor of net neutrality and then at the same time they cut a deal with Netflix for a better connection/not slowing them down.

The problem with this especially, is for an individual consumer, it seems like a GREAT thing. Take Pokemon Go for instance. i think it was Tmobile saying they wouldn't charge data for POGO data. That's a great for a person. However, people forget that takes away from innovating new games. Smaller example, but still.

Another is not charging data for Netflix, or not throttling, etc.

That is definitely a huge thing. This would kill innovation. A little start-up can't afford the same fast lane as the big competition and will be killed off before even getting a chance.

I'll watch this tonight when we watch John Oliver. I avoid all JO clips on Monday because I know I'll watch the show that night.

The FCC claims that they received a DDOS attack at the exact same time as John Oliver's viral net neutrality segment last night

The comments apparently mattered last time, but a lot of these are death threats and fake names...so that doesn't help.

I forgot to say I watched this had laughed a lot with all of the examples of people wasting time on the internet.

The HBO late night host savaged Pai over his net neutrality stance in his most recent diatribe on Sunday. In the segment, Oliver deployed a troll army against the FCC in order to crash their commenting function on the net neutrality move. It's a tactic Oliver has used successfully before with Pai's predecessor.

Nice that he cherry picked the dumbest tweets possible to show how smart and awesome he is.

Too bad Oliver filmed that FFC update before the Mean Tweets came out, he could have had fun with that.

Mean Tweets got really weird when the chairman of the FCC talked about teenage girls like that...

FCC votes to overturn net neutrality rules

The US Federal Communications Commission has voted to overturn rules that force ISPs to treat all data traffic as equal.
Commissioners at the agency voted two-to-one to end a "net neutrality" order enacted in 2015.
Ajit Pai, head of the FCC, said the rules demanding an open internet harmed jobs and discouraged investment.
