Disney will pull its movies from Netflix and start its own streaming services
Yes, Disney is powerful and has a massive movie catalog, but I don't see many families picking up yet another streaming service for this unless they have kids that only watch Disney movies or if Disney adds new releases to the service way early.
I would think most kids watch Netflix for the kid shows, not for the movies?

Not really sure why they are doing this. no way enough people subscribe to make it worth it to them. I imagine they make a ton of money from Netflix letting them use their movies.

The real question is, will every media company have its own subscription streaming service soon?

And it will cost 2x more than cable to get them all.

Yeah but the whole point is that you won't HAVE to get them all. you can choose which ones you want. In the end would it be more expensive to have them all? Probably. Will it be more expensive to have 3/20 of them? Hopefully not.

No. No. No. No.
Those are both big franchises, but not enough to warrant independent services.

I don't get this move by Disney. I know its a huge cash grab but they are WAY too late to the party. Those who were clammering for an ESPN streaming service have gone to another streaming service like Sling or PS Vue. Plus, did I read they won't have NFL or College Football content on the streaming service? Dumb move, IMO.

So, okay. I see where this is going. Each group/company/set of companies get their own streaming services. Okay, fine. If these are like....3-4 dollars a month, I absolutely support.
But this won't be, it'll be more expensive than Netflix.

It's kind of crazy that HBO is more a month than Netflix. I think HBO puts out better original content, but Netflix has so much more.
Rumor is it that Netflix is going to need to increase prices soon since they are billions of dollars in debt.

To be fair, it's because of the ratio of income they spend to make OC.

Netflix has snapped up “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes in a multi-year deal. The 15-year ABC veteran will still be involved with her hit shows, but Netflix will own the rights to any new shows she creates. The “arms race for talent” between old and new entertainment has been heating up as Netflix looks to rely less on outside studios; it’s also facing more competition from companies like ABC owner Disney, which just last week announced it would launch a rival streaming service.

While I'm not a huge fan of either of these shows you have to admit how popular and successful they are.
