I showed this to a lot of you already. You sign up for the service and get a credit card that can only be used on movie tickets. You check in via their app and get the ticket reimbursed.
Price is good for 6 months, but expect it to go up after that. The service started at $30/month and just changed to $10/month today.
I bought 1 card to try out. I will probably start going to a movie alone on Friday at least once a month now that Jocelyn is back at work and I get off early. Would need to see at least 2 movies per month per card for it to be worth it. I can do that on 1 card, but not 2.

Downside is you can't buy the ticket online. If you want to pre-buy a ticket you need to go to the location to do that.

Oh man, I would have jumped on this a few years ago. I rarely go to movies anymore and most of the ones I go to are the free screeners that Corey gets.

Why can't you still do both? I guess this might make it less likely that someone will pay to be part of Stubs, but the Stubs program would still be useful if you ever buy concessions. Plus, MoviePass will get people to go to the theater which is the biggest issue in the first place. I feel like it should be a win-win.
Re: MoviePass - $9.95/month for unlimited theater movies
I agree wags. The article also mentioned that AMC is afraid the $10/month model can't work because Movie pass will be losing money. Once it fails will people expect AMC to offer a similar plan?
That seems like a reach though.

I see it as "oh snap i can see as many movies as i want for free, better go to as many movies as possible" when it stops being $10 i will have to see how often i went and try and justify the new inflated price.

It's definitely unsustainable at the $10 price. They mention "hoping" that theaters will see the benefit and eventually share profits with MoviePass at later time. I think it's a pretty risky business model to start a company and then assume they'll figure out how to make money later.

Sounds like some data companies also bought into Movie pass. They will analyze it and sell ads later

To get the $9.95 rate do you have to sign up for a year? Their website says nothing.
