Robot Vacuums
I think a few of us have some now. What ones and how do you like it?
I use to mock Corey for having one and then he got a 2nd one and I didn't see the point. For Christmas this year I was gifted the Eufy 11+ and love it. I don't think it gets into the carpet as well as our nice vacuum, but it does a good enough job everyday that you come home to a clean house and I love seeing the tracks in the carpet knowing it ran.
More than a handful of times I've came home to find him stuck on the bathroom rug, I just need to remember to close that door when I leave to work.
I think at least once a week I'm going to put him in the basement and let him do his thing. In the basement he can get stuck behind the couch tho, I think I'm going to shove a 2x4 or something back there. You won't be able to see it and it will stop him from getting completely under it.
I know Corey and Bmyoungs get fancy with the schedules, I just have it go everyday at 9am. I'm either at work during that time or in the basement so it works out fine.
TL;DR. I never would have bought one for myself but I'm so glad it was gifted to us.

I have the Ecovac Deebot N79. I love it. It was on sale on BF for $150 so it was certainly a steal. I tested the other one I bought and their capabilities are quite different. Most notably difference was the deebot senses walls BEFORE it then does a separate run where it edge cleans. The other vacuum would just ran into a wall before changing direction.
Mine also has a very simple app which allows me to be more creative with schedules. I currently have it set to run 3 times a week. No need to run it every day we aren't THAT dirty. I also like having the app for the occasion we go away for a few days and I forgot to adjust the schedule since it would only need to run once.
Downside of the cheaper vacuum, currently no Google home support although I'm not sure why since other ecovacs are supported. It doesn't work with my harmony hub either. I could try an ifttt but I'm lazy. It also has no rhyme or reason to where it cleans. It just roams around until the battery is too low to continue.
I have recommended everyone I know get one though now. And I don't see a huge reason to get a Roomba specifically unless you get any vacuum that can have a set route to save on cleaning times.

Re: Robot Vacuums
Bmyoungs, is that the exact same model that The Wirecutter recommends?
If we didn't have Roscoe I would find a way to run it on a schedule similar to yours, but it's nice staying on top of the dog hair now.

Re: Robot Vacuums
I was getting frustrated with mine dying after 30-45 minutes. He would stop and turn red and beep. I assumed the battery was somehow dead. I got smart enough to look up the beep codes in the manual and figured out his brush was jammed. Was easy to clean and he's now back to day 1 performance.

Mine has the beep codes on the bottom of the robot also so check there.
Re: Robot Vacuums
Slight upgrade today. Evie will freak when she notices it.

Did yours come with spares? Mine are pretty beat up, but I refuse to swamp them after only a few months

Yes I think it came with a set of spares and I am the same way but have had them for way longer than you. They are curled but still do something I think.
Robot Vacuums
I figured every 4-6 months. Or just wait and replace the whole vacuum after a couple years

Re: Robot Vacuums
I wonder if you can flip them and have them curl the opposite way?

New $99 one taking Amazon by storm
Biggest con is no dock. Need to manually plug in and charge

I would consider it for the basement, but it says low carpet. Plus without a dock I'm getting the same benefit to just put my Eufy in the basement once a week over night and have it run until it dies.
