New phone and phone news

Postby bmyoungs » Sat Mar 31, 2018 5:14 pm

Was having some extremely annoying battery issues with pixel 1 so purchased the 2XL. Got it today and it is going to be awesome having this larger screen. Not a bad price with the $200 off and trade in from pixel 1.

The squeeze for assistant will be interesting if I use it at all

Big boy phone! I don't miss the bigger screen, at least that is what I tell myself.

If the pixel didn't have the swipe down on fingerprint for notification it would be rough reaching the top of the screen even for me

I saw Verizon has buy one get one free Samsung s9. How's that work? Free one has to be applied to a number? How can I cheat the system and get a 2nd one to sell?

Can't really since it's all 24 month bill credits

Still crazy you can't buy a USB C dongle to charge a Pixel 2 and use 3.5mm headphones. Google has one but it's been listed as "coming soon" since the phone came out.

OnePlus 6 is announced in a few weeks. I may consider this since it's 2/3rd the price of a Pixel XL.

Maybe not. Not all OnePlus phones have worked on Verizon.

I regret not getting that Essential phone for $350. Would have been a solid phone to hold me over for a year or so.

Was thinking about getting this phone just so I had a new phone that could hold a charge while in LA and a working GPS. Of course it doesn't work on Verizon.

Bought a refurbed Pixel XL (1st Gen) off woot for $210.

My pixel has $190 left on it through Verizon. Google will pay me up to $150. I'm paying $27/month, but getting $15 bill credit. I have 6 payments left. So $72 to pay it off if I keep it on my plan vs paying it off in full now.

Brad, you said I can trade it in to Google and get my $150 and still keep paying the monthly to Verizon?

I got my refurb Pixel XL. Was getting really hot, but that's okay now. Battery seems to suck, but I got it dead and didn't charge it fully. Hoping that fixes itself

It's so big compared to pixel, even with my bulky case on that.

It really is. Was going to get this one for Janelle as well, but it's too big for her to handle ;)

Android P is having some issues for me. Ethan, how about you? Fingerprint isn't working for some apps and the GPS is a bit messed up.

It's been pretty stable for me. Only issue I've had with fingerprint is Lastpass Autofill in Chrome. It's hit or miss with that. What is wrong with your GPS?

The LastPass with chrome is same for me. Also for ADP.

GPS just jumps around occasionally

Walmart was doing $400 off Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. I went with the XL today. Straight $400 off, not a discount every month. Still did 24 month financing on the remaning amount but will probably pay it off early.

See vacation 2018 thread on why I got a new phone.

I saw in r/Googlepixel there was a megathread for July update causing battery issues.
