Re: Wags's bar project
Those blanks look great! What did you decide to do for final coat/seal?
Accidents like that give workbenches much needed character. Proves you use the bench
Nice radon system in the garage.

I ended up going with that Danish Oil. I'll put a coat of polyurethane over it when it's all done.
Wags's bar project
Put a second coat of oil on the bar top and first coat on the lower shelf. I'll see how it looks and decide if I do a 3rd coat or not.

I don't think we have seen pics of the lower part yet!

like the color!

Going to be done in time for baby shower in a week?

Possibly. Waiting for coats of varnish to dry has been the biggest thing making it take long. I also put this project on hold to do the bags boards. I have the bar structure and lower shelf in the basement. Gotta finish the trim on the bar top before I can secure it to the bar. Then it's just a matter of deciding what I want to do for the "siding". I have some plywood to put on it for the sides so it will likely be a functional bar by this weekend, but not completely finished.

Update pic. There will be a piece of trim that goes around the edge of the bar top. Also obviously there will be sides.

Also a close up of the bar top with the varnish on.

Added the trim pieces tonight to the front and side. It's a different type of wood. I kinda like the contrast.

really like the contrasts too. great job!
Re: Wags's bar project
Just now seeing these pics. They weren't working on my pc.
I like the contrast too. I like everything, this is quality workmanship.
How's the air compressor?

Good I guess? Does what I need it to do. Sometimes wish it had a bigger capacity, but I like being able to store it on the lower shelf of my work bench and I don't really NEED anything bigger.

Got the sides on yesterday. Only thing left is to add the trim but I haven't made the trim yet. Also I should probably anchor it to the floor.

Re: Wags's bar project
You should be proud. It's turning out great.
Wags's bar project
Added the trim tonight. The trim is the same barn wood planks but I ripped them into strips and stained/finished the same as the bar top. I could call it done I suppose. There are some little things that I may want to improve just for myself, it won't be noticed by anyone but me. I also haven't decided if I want to add more trim stripes to the front or leave it plain white.

A+ work. This turned out great. Did you think anymore about anchoring it?
How would you space them out? Are you putting barstools along this? Worried about scuff marks on the white?
I need a profile pic, how far is the overhang?
