Is that a beached whale on ABC? No it’s Louie Anderson on a high dive!

Published on March 20, 2013 by in TV Show

After a lot of tears from my girlfriend I was able to convince her, with an assist from half a
bottle of wine, to watch the season premiere of Splash on ABC. But that wine, and a six pack of
beer for me, still didn’t prepare us for the horrors that followed.

Until tonight I thought Louie Anderson had eaten himself into a coma, but boy was I proven
wrong. He threw his 420 pounds off a 25 foot diving board and survived!

Louie is clearly the fan favorite going into this, as the lovable former host of Family Feud, but
he has some hot competition, Miss Alabama to be exact. The remaining b-list stars don’t even
matter in this voters mind. I will be following Miss Alabama and my boy Louie right to the finals!

Since I am going to pass on naming the other quasi-famous divers, I will bring you straight to
the least interesting “celebrity” trainer ever, Greg Louganis. I guess they can add some publicity
to the show with the inevitable anus jokes that will circulate social media, and he did add some
wonderful one liners such as; “take your time” and “Remember to breath.” I think that merits
me watching a second episode.

Now lets get to what we waited the WHOLE night for, the end of the show and the amazing
dive off. Now we all wanted to see Louie Anderson’s belly flop match up against Kareem Abdul
Jabar’s cannonball but alas we are not that fortunate. We are subject to seeing Keisha, I don’t
even know who she is, and Brent Musberger’s beauty, Miss Alabama.

As I waited with anticipation to find out who was eliminated, I couldn’t help but ponder what
my life would be like had I watched say a rerun of Spin City or Ally Mcbeal. Yes I wouldn’t have
known that indeed Miss Alabama lived to dive another day, but I could have seen David Spade
act his little heart out, and isn’t that what the true meaning of happiness is?

The answer is no. So spare yourself the agony and watch literally anything other than Splash
this Spring.

New on DVD: Wreck-It Ralph

Published on March 10, 2013 by in Movies, New on DVD

Tuesday marked a big DVD release for me: Wreck-It Ralph. I’ve expressed it before; I’m a huge fan of computer animated kid movies. I always find these movies just as enjoyable to the adults as they are to the kids, and Wreck-It Ralph is no exception. In fact, with all the nostalgic video game characters many parents might be more eager to rent this movie than their kids.

Best Movie Ever: Parker

First of all there are some areas where this doesn’t follow your typical action pack movie.

It starts off with Parker as a priest paying to get in at the Ohio State Fair. Where you see him eying the money that the security personnel are putting into their car. Parker continues to walk into the fair and goes into the mid-way and walks up to the famous throw-some-darts-at-balloons-to-win-something game. There was a kid that couldn’t hit a balloon if it was an inch away. The guy running the booth sees the father (Parker) and asks him to win a prize for the kid for free. Well Parker hesitates at first, but c’mon, it’s darts, easiest game ever. Parker throws all three in a second without even having to look. So the kid wins the big bear prize, a gift from the heavens. During this you see scenes of a fire chief wait by some bales at the fair.

Best Movie Ever: Zero Dark Thirty

First this movie is based on actual events that have happen the past 12 years.

Started out not your typical movie. It was playing sound bits of 911 calls from what happen on Sept. 11, 2001. After that it went to an interrogation scene where we meet two CIA operates Dan and the lady Maya. Well you get to see how to interrogation someone who just doesn’t want to talk. He gets to drink water, but he drinks too much at once always so he chokes on it. He gets to go in boxes, stand all day with your arms stretched out, and also gets to jam out to some hardcore rock music during breaks. What a life to live in for lying.

Most important step of catching a terrorist? Standing like this.

New on DVD: Butter

Before I jump into “Butter” I want to apologize for our time off. We’ve all been busy in preparation for the holiday season here at CPT and our blog has gone neglected. However, we have been putting more effort into the forum and we’re happy to see our numbers are growing. If you aren’t a member, I encourage you to join the forum and partake in discussions surrounding TV, movies, and anything else you can think of.

Butter sparked my interest once I learned that it’s all about the butter carving exhibits at the Iowa State Fair. Last year I attended the fair for the first time ever and I even got to see the legendary butter cow for myself. I was curious to see how a movie could be about such a simple sculpture. Bob Pickler (Ty Burrell) has been Iowa’s reigning butter carving champion for the past 15 years. After finishing this year’s sculpture, a life sized replica of The Last Supper made entirely of butter, Bob is asked to hang up his butter knife and let a new artist rise to the challenge. Laura Pickler (Jennifer Garner) does not take her husband’s retirement lightly and after threatening the head of the butter committee she decides to enter the butter carving contest herself.

$3 Movie Review: Flight

Looking for a fun movie to entertain you and your family on a cold winter night? Look elsewhere than “Flight”. I’ll state early on that I was caught off guard by the seriousness of the film and it comes with some heavy baggage. Let’s buckle in, put our trays in the upright position and (nose) dive into this flick.

Wait…what?

$3 Movie Review: Argo

If you only see one movie this last part of the year it better be Argo. Argo is directed by Ben Affleck and may be the director’s best work yet, and that is saying something being this is the mastermind behind “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Town”. Argo will without a doubt be up for many Oscars, including best movie of the year.

Ben Affleck and Bryan Cranston together?! My heart exploded.
